Valley Transit buses haven’t stopped their regular routes in the Fox Cities since the coronavirus pandemic started.
Appleton Mayor Tim Hanna wants to keep it that way. He says he hasn’t even thought about suspending the system, because people rely on buses for things like dialysis appointments.
Hanna says there won’t be as many riders, because students won’t be on the bus. He believes that will make it safer for the more vulnerable parts of the population.
He says they’ve stepped up the cleaning of the buses, and there are sanitation stations on board.
GO Transit in Oshkosh also continues to run.
Green Bay Metro is starting limited service again today, after shutting down last week. There are shorter hours, fewer routes, and a limit of six riders on a bus.
