A house was heavily damaged in a fire on Appleton’s west side late this morning.
Crews were called to the 1300 block of W. Pine Street, and they found flames coming from the back of the home.
Battalion Chief Derek Hanson says no people were still inside, and firefighters did get all of the animals out safely. He says the fire started in an outside building that was similar to a greenhouse, and it was for chickens and bunnies.
The flames spread to the house, and got into the second floor and attic.
The damage is estimated at $140,000.
Hanson says they had a tough time putting the fire out, after it got into the second floor and attic of the home.
