After teasing new music for the last few days, Lamb of God have released the first song from their upcoming self-titled album due May 8th. The track is called “Checkmate” and comes with a brand new video.
Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton, who recently released an EP, said of the record:
“‘Checkmate’ brings together all the components of the Lamb of God sound that we’ve been developing over the last two decades, but with the ambition and ferocity that comes with the start of a new chapter for our band. Re-energized and reignited, this is Lamb of God 2020. We’ve never been more excited.”
While this is technically the band’s 10th record, the self-titled comes in as the 8th studio record and frontman Randy Blythe says that it’s important that this album is self-titled:
“Putting only our name on it is a statement. This is Lamb of God. Here and now.”
Lamb of God will celebrate the release of “Checkmate” and the announcement of the new album with a special performance at the House of Vans in Chicago on February 14. This is a free event but you have to RSVP beginning at NOON TODAY to hold a spot. Reserve your spot here: HouseOfVans.com. The event will also include a photography exhibit featuring photos from Randy that will appear in the artwork for the Lamb of God.
