A Democrat from Appleton is supporting a state lawmaker from Green Bay, after he was punished for sexual harassment last year.
Rep. Amanda Stuck believes Democratic Rep. Stauch Gruszynski deserves a second chance.
An investigation found he “verbally sexually harassed” a legislative staffer at a bar in Madison. Stuck is backing Gruszynski’s re-election bid in the 90th district.
She points out how Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz of Oshkosh was ticketed in 2011, as part of a massage parlor investigation. Stuck says Hintz got a second chance when he was voted into leadership. She says it’s not unprecedented that people can change, and make mistakes and redeem themselves by being really good legislators.
Stuck says she’s a survivor of sexual assault, and she understands how people can be upset about her decision.
She’s leaving the Assembly to run for Congress this fall. She’s challenging Republican Congressman Mike Gallagher of Green Bay in the eighth district.
