In a new interview with Billboard, Stone Sour guitarist Josh Rand said that he plans on releasing unheard Stone Sour material every week in 2020 through Instagram. His plan is to post an alternative version or a demo version of one of the band’s songs starting with their 1992 beginning and running through the present day.
“I’m pretty excited about that. I think it’s going to be really cool, and it’ll give an insight into how we work as a band. It’s an interesting thing to hear stuff in its raw form and not polished like you hear in a finished record. There’s a rawness to it that’s cool.”
Rand also has plans to release something this summer but isn’t giving away too many details:
“It’s a mixture of everything… some live stuff, some demo stuff, some new material that has not been heard. It’ll be really cool, and we’re all really excited about it, but I can’t say too much yet.”
Earlier this month, Stone Sour released Hello, You Bastards: Live in Reno. According to Rand, the album is completely untouched and a full live performance. He says that the band prides themselves on having a tight live show and they wanted to leave the imperfections in the live album.
Rand also spoke about the future for Stone Sour while frontman Corey Taylor is out currently supporting Slipknot. He said that new Stone Sour material is in the works and he already has 7 songs demoed. Read the full interview HERE.
