The EAA in Oshkosh is mourning the crash of a World War II B-17 bomber in Connecticut this week.
Spokesman Dick Knapinski says the plane, nicknamed “909,” was in Oshkosh before, but not in the recent past.
Knapinski says there are fewer than a dozen flying B-17’s left in the world, including one owned by the EAA. He calls it a devastating loss to the aviation world.
