Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, The 1975, Queens of the Stone Age, Beck, Heart, Billie Eilish, The Distillers and a ton more artists are taking part in Bans Off My Body. Its an effort to fund Planned Parenthood and oppose the states that have passed laws or are trying to pass laws restricting reproductive rights.
There is an online petition, that can be found here, with a goal of getting half a million signatures by January 22nd which just so happens to be the 47th anniversary of Roe V. Wade which made access to safe and legal abortion a constitutional right.
One of music’s biggest artists of 2019, Billie Eilish, had this to say,
“We cannot live freely and move fully in the world when our basic right to access the reproductive health care we need is under attack. Every person deserves the right to control their body, their life and their future.”
The statement from I Stand with Panned Parenthood:
“Musicians across the country are standing in solidarity with Planned Parenthood.
They’re saying access to sexual and reproductive health care is about the same type of freedom that allows them to create music and speak their truth — because no one is free unless they control their own body. Right now, sweeping bans on safe, legal abortion are stripping away our freedoms.
Now is the time to band together and say KEEP YOUR BANS OFF OUR BODIES!”
