Stone Temple Pilots’ second album, Purple, will be reissued in multiple formats on September 13th. The two-CD or digital Deluxe Edition has a remastered version of the album plus a second disc with six demos, their cover of “Dancing Days” by Led Zeppelin, a live acoustic set and an acoustic studio take on “Big Empty,” which is out digitally now. The Super Deluxe Edition adds a live concert from 1994 and the album on vinyl.
Purple’s actual 25th anniversary is June 7th. It’s the only number-one album of the band’s career and went on to sell over six-million copies in the U.S. It spawned two number-one rock hits, “Vasoline” and “Interstate Love Song.”
Stone Temple Pilots will launch a co-headlining U.S. tour with Rival Sons on September 13 in Baltimore that will see the two bands performing on intimate stages including September 25th at The Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.
