FOREST JUNCTION, Wis–Calumet County could become the home of two new power plants. Invenergy has submitted plans with the state to construct a pair of natural gas-fired power plants in the Forest Junction area. One would be located along State Highway 32 at County Road K. The other would be south of State Highway 10 at Harvestore Road.
The plants would produce up to two-gigawatts of electricity, enough to power up to two-million homes. That would make them the second-largest gas-powered plants in the state.
We Energies hopes to begin construction by the end of 2027, and expects to have the facilities on line by the end of 2031.
