Tuesday night, Motionless In White kicked off their North American tour in Bridgeport, Connecticut and had a few surprises up their sleeves.
First was the debut performance of their cover of the 1983 Corey Hart hit “Sunglasses At Night.” The cover is included on their forthcoming album Decades which is due for release on Friday, July 17th.
During an interview with The Downbeat Podcast back in May, frontman Chris Motionless said that he’s been wanting to cover that track for over 10 years:
“I’ve always wanted to do it. I thought, ‘This song is like… I feel like Motionless should do ‘Sunglasses At Night‘.’ And it started out as just a fun thing to try out doing, and then it just eventually made its way on the album. And it’s very much for me. And if you don’t like it, I don’t give a fuck.”
During the first stop on the tour, MIW brought Skyler Grey on stage for their live debut collaborative performance of their single ‘R.I.P.’
The new album Decades is due out on Friday and features 13 songs.
Motionless In White will hit up the Fiserv Forum on November 13th with Dayseeker, The Devil Wears Prada, and Dark Divine.
