Bilmuri have announced when the next album will come and that is April 10th and will be called Kinda Hard. Along with this announcement they have also released a new track called ‘Twice’. Bilmuri, known for their genre blending and experimentation continue that trend with this track that was written by John Franck, Will Carlson, Knox Morris and Drew Fulk and provides a heaping helping of emotional honesty, musical prowess and all the hog gripping moments you’ve come to know from the band while still providing moments of true creativity and a beautiful saxophone solo.
I had a chance to talk with John a few months back about him writing music and he talked about how he writes music.
‘I just try to go in looking for what is going to be the most entertaining and enjoyable thing to me. If something feels interesting I’m just going to go there because there are no rules to music, really, obviously there are rules if you want it to be popular but not even really…as long as I stay true to what I find interesting and there are other people there that kind of have the same view point of those things then we’re always going to be in lockstep with whatever I do and the fans of Bilmuri enjoy.’
When you hear John talk about his approach to music it is incredible to hear a man so full of creativity and drive to make cool music. He also likes to lift heavy weights so I asked him how much he can actually squat and he said this.
‘I CAN SQUAT 405 BABY!!’
Bilmuri will be on the road making a stop in Madison on May 2nd at The Sylvee along with Four Year Strong.
