APPLETON, Wis. — Gaming machines in bars continues to be a hot button issue in Appleton.
The city’s Safety and Licensing Committee rejects an application to install such machines at the Mad Elephant along S. Oneida Street, citing their likely use as gambling machines.
Mad Elephant attorney Garet Galster tried to argue that the Big Daddy Games units are not games of chance………
Assistant Appleton City Attorney Zak Buruin points out that the games promote payouts in their online ads………….
Earlier this year, the Appleton Common Council voted against a license for a “gaming bar” that would have featured similar machines for patrons to play.
