Josh Freese has been the drummer for The Vandals, Devo, Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, and most recently, Foo Fighters. After the tragic death of long-time Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, Foo Fighters announced they’d continue on and even put out a new album with Josh playing drums. Seemed like a great fit and a great hire for one of rock’s most prolific bands.
Of course, not all has been great for Foo Fighters this past year. After lead singer and frontman Dave Grohl got in some hot water by having a baby out of wedlock, they canceled all remaining tour plans, and now it looks like they have fired Josh Freese as their drummer.
Late last week Josh posted this to Instagram:
Dave Grohl or the rest of the Foo Fighters have yet to say anything on the matter, but we do know they are playing their first show in October 2025 in Singapore. There is a rumor out there that Josh didn’t have nice words to say to Dave after the news of his affair was made public. As of now, it looks like the Foo Fighters’ fall from grace is continuing to go deeper.
