What do Taylor Swift and Five Finger Death Punch have in common? They both had their back catalog of music sold without their consent and they both re-recorded their hits in response. Deals like this are unfortunately a reality in this world and Zoltan Bathory had this to say on the subject.

“We would have loved to have a shot at reclaiming our masters, or at least to be involved in the transaction but we found out after the fact. Surprised, but not surprised. These kinds of behind closed doors deals have become far too common in the music industry. Labels buy, sell or trade artist’s work without their knowledge or consent, reducing them to soulless commodities. But life is a chess game so when this happened to Taylor Swift, she responded by re-recording her catalog. After that respectably bold move, her fans switched to streaming the new version out of protest and loyalty. We have one of the most hardcore and loyal fan bases on the planet so I know our fans will do the same.”

In addition to the biggest of the band’s gigantic hits Five Finger Death Punch also released a new version of the anthemic ‘I Refuse’ which features Maria Brink of In This Moment.

Five Finger Death Punch are set to release their best of album (the second greatest hits album the band have released) aptly named Best Of-Volume 1and will be released on July 18th. The tracks are either rerecorded versions or live versions and many have never been heard before.
