Badflower has a brand new track and its called “Detroit.”
The track was written backstage before their 2022 show at The Fillmore, “Detroit,” named for the city in which it was created. It features live audio captured from the audience in attendance that night and was written as a love letter to fans from a group contemplating their success through the years. The accompanying self-directed video is equally introspective and features an intimate performance of an empty Ryman Auditorium stage interspersed with archival band footage.
Badflower frontman Josh Katz said of the song:
“I think anyone who has achieved something that they always thought they wanted has felt the disappointment in finally reaching that goal. It’s like, ‘I have it, now what do I do?’ And then you realize how fun it was chasing the thing you wanted – it was the journey that meant everything.”
Katz continued:
“Fans are so involved in those feelings. That’s the thing I was chasing for so long, to be loved by a lot of people. And for those people to be involved in this song –it’s just another layer of Badflower being honest with you.”

Three weeks ago, Badflower hit us with a brand-new song called “Teacher Has A Gun.” At the beginning of the video when frontman Josh Katz is in the car, you can hear him listening to “Detroit.”
Two new songs in three weeks… could this be a new album? Possibly but nothing has been announced at this time. Maybe we’ll get more details when Badflower stops by The Sylvee on September 21st.
