From 2003 until 2012 there wasn’t a band more synonymous with metalcore than As I Lay Dying. Seemingly unstoppable with their riffs, breakdowns and catchy melodies, AILD had it all. That all came crumbling down when lead singer Tim Labesis was arrested for trying to get his then wife murdered. Since then the band has had lineup changes and mass departures but they have also remained on tour and now are releasing new music. When As I Lay Dying played at Epic back in ’22 it was their first go with the new lineup that consists of Ryan Neff, Ken Susu and Phil Sgrosso. ‘Burden’ is the first with that lineup and Sgrosso says this is how it came to be.
“Musically, we feel that ‘Burden’ represents a familiar part of our melodic history combined with a modern sense of energy and aggression. We really pushed ourselves to expand our musical capabilities in every department. We look forward to the addition of ‘Burden’ into our live show as well as introducing more music we’ve been working hard on over the past few years. Stay tuned.”
As I Lay Dying will be on tour with Chelsea Grin this summer with a stop in Chicago, July 21st.
