Ghost is releasing a film hitting theaters worldwide soon, and they shared a 30-second sneak-peek at what we can expect. Watch it here:
Their lead man, Toblas Forge explained that footage from the band’s two shows at the Forum in Inglewood, California will be incorporated into the film. Per Blabbermouth, a unique aspect of these concerts was that fans weren’t allowed to bring their phones or smart watches into the venue, but rather were forced to enjoy and experience the concert technology-free–something many people haven’t experienced since phones became a part of everyday life. When fans entered the concert, their devices were locked away in special pouches until they were allowed to pick them up on their way out.
Forge was a big fan of this, comparing the two crowds to ones he played for back when he was in a club band. In an interview with Metal Hammer Magazine, he said, “They were the best shows I’ve ever done with Ghost, just because I didn’t have to see those f%*king mobile phones.”
Because these crowds were so much more interactive and present than usual, Forge explained that they made for great extras for the upcoming Ghost film. He said, “we used two nights of crowds as extras. It’s going to be a film with a concert element. So a lot of what you experienced [at the two LA shows] is going to be part of this project.”
Per Blabbermouth, Forge told Revolver back in 2019 that the film won’t be your typical “rockumentary” or concert film, but something entirely different and unique. “Most films about bands are biographical, and I see no reason to tell our story yet,” Forge explained.
“It’s a little bit like premature ejaculation. You have to have a career first and then you can tell the real story, so that was never an option. And when you yank away that, what do you have? Well, that would be a fictional story.”
