APPLETON, Wis. — Three house fires had the Appleton Fire Department scrambling Friday night.
Crews were first called to a home along W. Pershing Street around 5:30 p.m. to find smoke coming from the second story of a duplex. The fire started in an oven. No one was hurt.
About 30 minutes later, a fire was reported in another home in the 100 block of S. Lee Street. That was another kitchen fire. No one was home at the time and there were no injuries. Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue also helped at the scene.
Then at 8:20 p.m. Friday, crews were called to another duplex in the 1500 block of W. Weiland Street for smoke coming from the front of the building. Again, no one was hurt. The cause of that fire is under investigation.
On Saturday night, crews were called to a home in the 200 block of E. Pershing Street on the report of smoke in the building. Firefighters rescued two dogs. The fire appeared to start in the basement. No one was hurt. The cause is under investigation.
