In case you forgot, Green Day is coming to Milwaukee on August 24th! And we’ve got some exciting news… in celebration of Dookie turning 30 and American Idiot turning 20, the band will perform both of the albums in their entirety at each stop on the stadium tour!
Yep, that means you will go home that night having heard two of the most legendary albums in full – LIVE.
“What a fuckin’ moment it’s going to be,” Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt said in an interview with Rolling Stone. “We’ve never done anything like this before. And there’s a really good chance we’ll never do it again.”
And for those of you that are fans of their other albums and songs, you’ll get to hear some of that too. Dirnt explained to Rolling Stone that the albums will take about 90 minutes to play in full, and that will leave them with about 35 to 45 minutes to “thrown down on other stuff.”
Green Day’s new album Saviors comes out this Friday, so you can expect to hear some songs from there as well. But obviously there’s nothing like hearing the classics, and Dirnt emphasized that to Rolling Stone as well saying, “When you play a song like ‘She,’ ‘Basket Case,’ or ‘Welcome to Paradise’ live, it’s a whole different energy.”
