Rage Against the Machine arguably was one of the biggest rock bands in the world until the early part of the 2000s. Throughout the 90s they put out 3 monster albums Rage Against the Machine, Evil Empire , and The Battle of Los Angeles. Then at the turn of the century, they put out a cover album called Renegades and that’s been it as far as music releases from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band. The pandemic took a toll as they had to postpone and cancel countless tours and shows, then in 2022 singer Zach De La Rocha tore his Achilles and more shows had to be canceled or postponed. Earlier this year they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but only guitarist Tom Morello showed up for the ceremony and told fans “if you’re bummed you didn’t get see Rage Against the Machine, go out and start your own band.” Now comes this post by drummer Brad Wilk which seems to say that they are in fact done as a band.
While no official word has been released by the band or the other members, it sure seems like this is the final nail in the coffin of one of the most polarizing and popular bands in rock history.
