The newest album from hardcore powerhouses Dying Wish, Symptoms Of Survival has finally been set free onto the world and what a powerful album it is! When I spoke to Emma Boster about what the themes of this new album would be she said this.
‘…We spent those two months mapping out what we wanted to talk about what the subject matter on the album was going to be and the goal was to…elevate it past Fragments in a way where…Fragments was a lot about suffering and this record has a lot of that theme but it’s more about the acceptance of it. ‘
According to Pedro Carrillo, guitarist for the band, the album title has a special meaning as well.
‘As a title, Symptoms of Survival encapsulated the record, because we were trying to write about the human experience of failure and what you go through to get by, It really summed up what we wanted to say.’
From the pummeling riffs that start the album with the title track to the soaring melodies of ‘Watch My Promise Die’ and ‘Paved In Sorrow’ this album is truly a landmark moment in the band’s history. I had a chance to talk with Emma about the album and you can check that conversation out below.
