Today (November 2), it has officially been announced that Green Day is hitting the road for The Saviors Tour.
Joining the five-time Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will be The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and The Linda Lindas. What a freaking show!
As part of the tour, Green Day will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of their iconic debut album Dookie, and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot. Dookie has been widely credited with bringing back mainstream interest in punk rock, selling more than 10 million copies, and even going on to achieve 10x Platinum Diamond status. American Idiot sold more than 8 million copies in just the U.S. and won the Grammy for Best Rock Album.
Green Day, formed in 1986 in Berkeley, California, is one of the best-selling bands of all time. Made up of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool, they sold more than 75 million records worldwide, reaching over 10 billion audio/visual streams over the years.
“We’ve never been more excited to unleash new music than with Saviors, a record that’s meant to be rocked live, together. So let’s thrash. We’ve got some amazing friends who are coming along for the ride!” said the band, according to the press release from the Brewers.
The Saviors Tour will be one you don’t want to miss. It will be a celebration of all that Green Day has accomplished, bringing you a collection of their most well-known hits that still are at the forefront of punk culture since their release, as well as performances of hits from their most recently announced album, Saviors.
