Saw X, the tenth entry and a milestone sequel for the Saw franchise, releases in theaters today (September 29).
The franchise kicked off in 2004 with the debut of Saw, introducing John “Jigsaw” Kramer as a brilliant trap engineer. This marked the start of a horror series full of thrills and traps that got increasingly complex and gnarly, according to Bloody Disgusting.
The movie takes place between Saw and Saw II, per Bloody Disgusting, introducing John Kramer dealing with a terminal cancer diagnosis. With not much time left to live, he joins a cancer support group. There, he finds hope in Henry, who received life-saving treatment from Dr. Cecilia Pedersen. Kramer contacts Dr. Pedersen and gets a spot in her experimental program, but it’s costly and involves going to Mexico City. Kramer, desperate to live, agrees. Unfortunately for all involved, when he finds out that the treatment is not as described, they have to face the consequences of messing with John Kramer.
Saw X brings back what fans love about the series, and this new group of survivors who really want to stay alive adds an exciting twist. Dr. Pederson’s smart thinking also throws a curveball at Kramer, making things interesting. The traps are super intense, so get ready to cringe while watching. Plus, they really affect the characters and the story emotionally.
As Bloody Disgusting says,
“Saw X delivers a franchise high, and that’s no small feat ten installments deep… Whether you’re new to the franchise or a diehard fanatic, Saw X is an easy recommendation this Halloween season. Welcome back, Jigsaw.”
Sounds like this one is the perfect film to kick off October with!
