You may not know much about the up-and-coming rockers known as Sleep Theory, but you should get familiar because they are taking the world by storm. Formed in 2020, Sleep Theory hails from Memphis TN. Their blend of rock, metal, R&B, and pop have already garnered them a following on social media, with their debut single “Another Way” reaching over 2 million streams on Spotify.
On July 18th they were the first to enter the Razor back room, playing some acoustic tunes as well as having a chat about the art of blowing up. Vocalist Cullen Moore says in today’s world, it’s important to keep the fire alive otherwise people will move on from you very quickly, also noting how important it is for the band to play catch up on things they may have missed.
“When you blow up in the way that we did, you have to keep the flame going, especially in today’s like, time you know? People are always ready for the next thing so if you blow up you have to keep nurturing the flame and keep throwing gas on it. So for us to go from nobodies to somebodies in such a short amount of time, we really gotta catch up with what these other bands have been doing for this many years, or that many years. We may have skipped steps but we still gotta go back and hit them.”
A good way to get a lot of eyes on a band quickly is to play live, and luckily for Sleep Theory they fell into an extraordinary opportunity with rock veterans Shinedown. They had played a show in their hometown of Memphis, where Shinedown guitarist Zach Myers was watching on. After their set, Myers simply asked them if they wanted to go on tour with Shinedown, much to the shock and excitement of Moore and all of Sleep Theory.
Sleep Theory is one of the hottest bands on the scene right now, continuing to make strides in the world of online streaming, radio airplay, and concert features. Check them out performing their hit singles “Numb”, and “Another Way” in our first episode of The Backroom Sessions below!
