On August 8, Trivium’s Matt Heafy hopped on stage to join Megadeth during their show at the Theatre Antique d’Orange in Orange, France. Heafy shared the mic with Dave Mustaine during their performance of “Tornado of Souls” from Megadeth’s platinum-certified album from 1990, “Rust In Peace,” according to The PRP.
Heafy explained that he had originally planned to join Megadeth on stage because he heard that Mustaine was feeling a bit under the weather that day.
According to Blabbermouth, Trivium had previously supported Megadeth in 2021 and 2022 on their “The Metal Tour Of The Year” tour, where Heafy told Classic Rock Magazine how unbelievable he thought Megadeth was and how “every single detail of their show is meticulous, and Dave Mustaine is still flawless. There is no one else on the planet like him.“
Heafy has been a long time fan of the band. In a 2020 interview with Full Metal Jackie he said, “Megadeth was one of the very first metal bands I ever got into. ‘Countdown To Extinction’ was my first Megadeth record, and then ‘Rust In Peace’ was my second Megadeth record. They were right alongside Metallica, Pantera, Slayer — the very first bands to show me what metal was.“
