Trivium’s Matt Heafy dove off-stage to help a falling crowd surfer in the middle of performing during a show in Dallas, Texas on June 7.
In the video, you can see Heafy jump off the stage quickly to attempt to stop the fan who was crowd surfing from falling over the security-barrier and landing head first on the floor. Unfortunately, there was no security standing there to stop the fan themselves.
Alongside the shared footage, Heafy wrote, “Don’t ever say we don’t love our fans. Absent security in that spot – dude almost broke his neck – and I had to jump down and catch him! Whew. Had to check on a second person on martyr – if that was you – please lmk if you’re alright. Dallas. Holy shit.”

According to Metal Injection, while Heafy was helping the crowd surfer, Trivium’s bassist Paolo Gregoletto made a comment to security, asking them to spread out more and be aware of the fans that were crowd surfing. He said,
“Hey security. You need to go the whole way across and not bunch up in the middle. Our singer’s not [gonna be] jumping off the stage to catch people tonight, okay? We’re not gonna start until there’s a couple more people down here.”
Fortunately, it seems like everyone ended up being alright. Shout out to Heafy and the rest of Trivium for taking care of their fans, even if it means jumping off-stage in the middle of a performance.
