I’m not the biggest Star Wars nerd but I do enjoy the movies and lately the side quest shows. Yes, everyone was hyped on The Mandalorian and to a lesser extent Kenobi, which I personally enjoyed but this blog only has enough room for one hot take today.
Andor follows the story of Cassian Andor who is a reluctant rebel, not because he doesn’t have just cause but rather because he is tired of fighting and wants to just live his life in peace. He is thrust into a plot to steal an insane amount of money from the Empire and soon finds himself on a distant land with people he hardly knows.
I won’t get too far into detail as to what happens because if I’m honest not a lot does. And that’s a good thing. Yes there are fight scenes and character building but overall not much in the means of action happens. There also isn’t much in terms of campy Star Wars humor. Mandalorian was full of tongue in cheek moments that, in my opinion, took away from the story. Andor feels desolate, it feels like there is something important going on. You understand the reasons why people are rebelling. You truly find reasons to hate the Empire more than you already do. This show burns at a pace normally seen in old time war movies. The shots are expansive, the scenery genuinely feels other-worldly and every character feels like at any point they could die. This is BY FAR my favorite Star Wars side quest TV show and I cannot wait to see how it all ends.
