This week alternative legends The Smashing Pumpkins announced their 12th studio album, ATUM. Pronounced “autumn” and billed as a sequel to 1995’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and 2000’s Machina/The Machines of God, it will arrive in three parts starting in the fall later this year.
ATUM‘s first act will arrive on Nov. 15 later on this year. Act 2 and Act 3 will then be released on Jan. 31, 2023, and April 21, 2023. A box set of the full album along with 10 bonus tracks will accompany the final act’s release. It has been called “a rock opera in three parts,” and it’s safe to say fans should get excited for the 33 new tracks that will be coming their way. ATUM is available for pre-order here.
The Pumpkins previewed the forthcoming album with the single “Beguiled” this past Monday (Sept. 19th).
