They’re back!
It has been five years since the rock world has been treated to some new tunes from the mighty Nickelback, and the wait is finally over. The band has just released the first track off of their upcoming studio album Get Rollin’ which is set to come out in November of this year. The new song is titled “San Quentin,” and it is heavy by Nickelback standards.
Late last month, Nickelback shared an audio teaser of a new song and it sounded shockingly heavy and even had a bit of a metalcore twinge to it. That teaser was revealed to be the first few seconds of “San Quentin,” a song Nickelback vocalist Chad Kroeger wrote after meeting the warden of the San Quentin prison while attending a birthday party for Guy Fieri. guitarist Ryan Peake spoke on the new track.
“It’s actually interesting because I think Nickelback fans would know for sure. I don’t think it’s unusual, that type of song, for us. It’s not necessarily indicative of the whole album, but as far as rock, it’s a heavy rock song. And if you’ve seen us live, you would definitely get it, too. I think it’s nice, I kind of like that people are feeling like it’s a surprise that we could write or we could have rock songs like that in our repertoire.”

As mentioned, Nickelback plans to release an album titled Get Rollin’ later this year. It is currently set for a November 18th release date, and is available for pre-order now. No knowledge of any tours/shows in support of this new album as of yet. If a tour is announced, let’s hope Green Bay is a stop.
