Parkway Drive as you’ve never heard them before.
The Australian metal group is gearing up to release their seventh studio album Darker Still on September 9th of this year. Today fans were treated to the album’s title track, and were met with a surprisingly somber Parkway Drive.
“Darker Still” kicks off with a whistle and an acoustic guitar, followed by almost seven minutes of guitar solos, ethereal choirs and strings, and a surprising vocal performance from frontman Winston McCall which really showcases his depth as a vocalist. McCall spoke on the musicality of “Darker Still,” which continues to carry the theme of death that has been prevalent within the other singles from the band’s forthcoming album.
“Love. Time. Death. The great defining elements that make up our existence. This song begins with the simplest of human sounds and represents these elements as the musical journey grows to reach its souring crescendo before facing the inevitable conclusion of its journey. The night grows dark… darker still.”
Darker Still is currently available for pre-order. Check out the visualizer for “Darker Still” below!
