There has been quite a bit of chatter in the last few days after the announcement of Five Finger Death Punch and Brantley Gilbert tour which will be stopping at the Resch Center on December 3rd. Many people are excited. Many people are confused by the combination. And many people want to know how this tour was thought up and created. Basically it snowballed from them doing the ‘Blue on Black’ cover back in 2019.
“The conversation and Brantley mentioned he wanted to be involved…we decided he would sing on it…he’s a country guy but still very much a rock guy as well…and he’s got a great voice…so that’s where it started and then we became friends…and we found out our fan bases kind of overlapped…and that’s where the conversation started…”
So they did the cover and from there they became friends, discovered a strong fan crossover and decided that they wanted to see if they can bring rock and country together. Should be fun!
We also talked about the new album and how classical music played a major inspiration for it as well as two near/actual death experiences Zoltan has had. He wanted to write a song that sounded like when he had died, which is metal AF. He described it this way.
“There’s a song called Judgment Day and we wrote this song…I wanted to write a song that sort of sounded like, and this is going to sound weird, the process of dying. Because I have had two near death experiences, Ivan has had a near death experience, and you know when that happens it’s a pretty crazy experience.”
I think nearly dying (or in Ivan’s case actually dying for a brief amount of time) being described as a ‘pretty crazy experience’ is a hefty understatement. He goes on to say that he played the song for Ivan before there were any words to it and Ivan knew right away that it sounded like when you die. Whoa.
