APPLETON, Wis. — The community is invited to be part of “Paint the City,” a two week mural initiative for students in the Appleton Area School District.
We spoke with muralist and STAR advisor Irineo Medina, and Appleton East Assistant Vice Principal Kelsi Van Fossen, to learn more about the program. You can hear their full interview above.
In total, 18 students, 6 per Appleton High School will participate from August 8th to August 18th, with a celebration planned for August 19th. The project itself is painting a 100+ foot mural alongside Jersey Bagel off Oneida Avenue.
Medina says that he hopes the mural will uplift and empower through positive community connection, placemaking and representation in subject matter.
Community members are invited to come hang out, paint and build positive and lasting connections with youth in the community.
