The song “Master of Puppets” has had a massive resurgence since Eddie Munson, (played by Joe Quinn) jammed the song on his guitar for about three minutes in a pinnacle scene during Stranger Things Season 4.
It turns out the guys in Metallica are big fans, especially frontman James Hetfield, “I’m a big fan of [the show] since Season One. My kids and I, it’s been a bonding experience for us . . . Thanks for doing [our song] justice, by the way. You definitely did.”
Joe Quinn even said Metallica is all he’s been listening to for the past two years. So before Metallica’s headline set at Lollapalooza they invited Joe backstage to jam the song for a bit and gave him a replica guitar of the one he used as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, then of course they signed it for him. Then to close out their set later that night they had a video from Stranger Things playing in the background while playing “Master of Puppets.”
