The Milwaukee Metal Fest which last graced the Modjeska Theater in 2004 has been bought by Hatebreed front-man Jamey Jasta who vows to bring the festival back to Milwaukee in 2023. The festival which dates back to 1987 was disconitinued in 2004 which Jasta and Black Dahlia Murder’s late frontman Trevor Strnd lamented on Jasta’s podcast about the glorious lineups that featured bands like Death, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide and Morbid Angel, discussing about bringing it back. Strnd unfortunately passed away earlier this year which Jasta said inspired him to make the festival happen.
“On a recent podcast I did with the late Trevor Strnad, I fantasized about bringing the fest back and even wanted Trevor to curate it with me, in light of his death, I feel the need to see it through and relaunch the festival in 2023.”
Though there are no other details about dates at the moment this is still an incredibly exciting day for metal fans across the mid-west! We will have a chance to see Hatebreed when they come to the Oshkosh Arena with Anthrax and Black Label Society on August 5th.
