Mark Tremonti is known for being the riff-master for Alter Bridge, Tremonti and yes, even Creed. When I was approached to speak with him about his new project Tremonti Sings Sinatra I had to do it. Going into the interview I thought it was just another lame covers album many musicians do to give a bridge of funding between albums but within the first minute of the interview I found out I was very wrong. I asked why Sinatra and he said this.
‘I’ve always been a fan and Christmas would come around and I’d hop on a karaoke mic and sing along…about three years ago I became obsessed. I saw some old videos of him in the early 40’s singing and i was like…just like the guitar I’m gonna practice singing to sound like him…I had read a bunch of books that he was this big philanthropist t raised over a billion dollars for charity…’
He had this project ready to go but didn’t know what to do with it. Then he found inspiration from Old Blue Eyes when his unborn daughter was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. He and the surviving members of Frank Sinatra’s final touring orchestra got together and recorded an album. The album, entitled Tremonit Sings Sinatra, will benefit the National Down Syndrome Society.
He talked about his new campaign which challenges people with large social media platforms to do things outside of their comfort zones to do some charity work.
‘…get everyone’s fan base to challenge their people they’re fans of…challenge them to take a chance for charity…to challenge people you would never see coming…like me singing Frank Sinatra.’
