Chris Motionless is a fascinating man. On stage he is an intense, intimidating vocalist that commands the stage with a fierce style. Off the stage he is vastly different. He’s very easy going, happy to talk about his art and full of insightful thoughts. When I asked him about ‘Cyberhex’ being a love letter to the fans that stuck with them this is what he said.
‘I couldn’t imagine coming back after from all that time and putting out a record and not have the first song be…(punch noise)…it had to be a song that was addressed to what we have all gone through, what we have all experienced and a thank you to all those people that helped me get through that.’
We touched on a bit about mental health as well and how we were all forced to face some things we may have been hiding from for a long time. Here’s what he had to say about pulling himself out of a rough mental state.
‘…for me…it was a big cycle of you know pretending like no I’m fine, this is great I can do anything I want I’m free, to quickly…oh my god…what’s happening….full blown panic mode…I think most scenarios where people experience that you kind of hit what feels like the bottom and…for as clichĂ© as it sounds there no place to go but up….You just get sick of feeling hopeless….all along you knowing you could start working towards getting out of it….I didn’t want me to be the only thing I couldn’t get past.’
This is just the tip of the iceberg about this topic and it was incredibly motivating. Check out the full interview below.
