Investigators: Man killed himself in shooting with Shawano County deputy

State investigators have reached an initial conclusion in the death of a man who exchanged gunfire with a Shawano County Sheriff’s deputy last Friday. The Division of Criminal investigation says while the deputy fired his weapon, initial evidence indicates the man took his own life. The deputy responded to a 911 call from a home on Oak Avenue in the Town of Richmond and arrived in time to see that man shoot and kill a woman outside of a storage building. That suspect then turned his weapon toward the deputy who then fired at the man. The deputy is now on administrative leave as the investigation continues.
