The untimely death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has shook the rock world. Jane’s Addiction frontman and the booker/owner of Lollapalooza Perry Farrell was one of Taylor’s best friends. Hawkins had played on a few of Farrell’s solo projects, and in 2021 they released a song they co-wrote called “Mend.”
Farrell went to social media to say a few words about his friend, “He was my best friend — beloved in my home by my wife, my children, even my dogs. He was one of the most passionate drummers I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. When I think of him, I sum it up with one word: velocity. He had the gift to maintain a confident, striking, and stroking velocity on drums.”
