Ghost officially kicked off their U.S. co-headlining tour with Volbeat last night (Jan. 25), and it was full of surprises and firsts.
Among the surprises were performances of the previously released new single “Hunter’s Moon,” a cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” and an unreleased track from their upcoming album Impera titled “Kaisarion.” The band also debuted the new look for the Nameless Ghoul backing band, donning a new diving helmet, and an ornamental shoulder piece on what resembles an old military jacket.
It is quite bold opening a tour with a song nobody has ever heard before, but for Ghost, it paid off! Check out the fan-shot video of the performance below.
The Nameless Ghouls are not the only musicians onstage who underwent a transformation. Singer Tobias Forge unveiled the Papa Emeritus IV character during their performance of “Year Zero,” after performing as the Cardinal Copia frontman character for the first nine songs. Although the new character was originally unveiled in 2020, this performance marks the first time it appears in conjunction with Ghost’s new record.

Ghost and Volbeat’s U.S. co-headlining tour will be stopping through Milwaukee on Feb. 20 of this year. For more information check out our Concert Calendar page for details.
