Starting Friday, people will be able to rent electric Bird scooters in Appleton.
Spokeswoman Sheng Lee Riechers suggests people download the Bird app. She doesn’t think they’ll replace cars or busses. But she thinks they will be a good complement. She expects college students and shoppers to use them.
Bird scooters will be allowed on trails, in bike lanes and on sidewalks in some areas outside of downtown. Fifty of the scooters will be placed throughout the city Friday, April 30. The scooters go up to 15 mph.
