The number of COVID-19 deaths attributed to long-term care facilities takes a significant jump in Wisconsin. More than a thousand deaths were moved to that category on the state’s COVID-19 dashboard–as Deputy Health Services Secretary Julie Willems Van Dijk says they have corrected data in the system. The D-H-S determined more accurate long-term care deaths by cross-referencing addresses with known locations of group homes. That adjustment means 45-percent of all COVID deaths in the state took place inside long-term care facilities.
