The Winnebago County Board will vote tonight on giving the Health Officer greater powers to enforce public health orders.
County Executive Mark Harris says the Health Officer could always issue something like a mask mandate or a stay at home order, it just couldn’t be enforced.
The Winnebago County measure would require approval of the County Board before the Health Officer could enforce general public health orders.
