Linkin Park released the Hybrid Theory: 20th Anniversary Edition album last week and one of the rarest tracks to be featured on it is the song “Pictureboard“, which can be heard below. Over the years, versions of the song have been circulated around, but this is the first actual release of Chester Bennington‘s demo of the track. The song was originally recorded as part of the band’s earlier incarnation as Xero, the demo was one of the first songs that the late Chester Bennington would record vocals for with the outfit.
Guitarist Brad Delson said that they made a bunch of demos and were seeking a singer for the band. A friend of a friend recommended Chester after working with him. According to Bennington, he left his own birthday party to record the vocals on the tracks they sent him. Delson said that he was blown away and that it sounded like two different people on the same song, which showed Chester’s range as a vocalist.
