Nursing homes and long term care facilities are feeling the pressure after an increase of COVID-19 cases in the Fox Valley.
Even one person diagnosed with coronavirus means the facility can’t take on more patients. Sondra Norder the President and CEO of Saint Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna says this can cause backups at hospitals.
Another major challenge for nursing homes is getting access to testing supplies. The CDC requires nursing homes to test staff and residents a specific number of times a week based on the county’s infection rate.
