The villages of Howard and Suamico have figured out how to donate excess money they received from the federal government through the CARES Act to the school district. Leaders say they used some of the money but don’t have use for the rest.
Senator Rob Cowles from Green Bay says unused funds will be returned to the federal government. He says they verified it was legal to shift the money.
Suamico Village Administrator Alex Kaker says they can’t just give money to the school district, but need to purchase equipment and then donate those items. Kaker expects the village board to approve around $75,000 in donations. Howard officials think the community will donate around $73,000.
