Local hospitals are close to putting elective procedures on hold again.
Aurora Oshkosh President, Dr. John Newman says they have fewer beds for other patients because they’re handling so many COVID-19 patients. He says they need to consider shutting down elective surgeries, and they could shut down preventative care. He says they’re “just about there.”
Newman says they also have fewer health care workers available at their hospitals and clinics, because more are catching coronavirus outside of their job. He says they’re hearing many of the same stories as the community at large, including staffers going to a wedding, funeral or family gathering, and not wearing a mask.
