A top expert for the state thinks there’s a high likelihood things will get much worse, before it gets better, if people don’t take action to slow the spread of coronavirus.
Dr. Ryan Westergaard of the Department of Health Services says when someone at risk of severe complications catches it, they can become very sick and even die. He expects more of that to happen, unless people do things to flatten the curve. He fears the case numbers and death numbers are going to get higher, unless people do that relatively urgently.
Westergaard believes the state “is in a crisis now.”
