The Brown County Health Department is promising to be more aggressive in the enforcement of mask rules and social distancing guidelines.
Health Officer Anna Destree says COVID-19 cases are spiking in the region, because people aren’t following them. She says if a school or business would consistently ignore their guidelines and advice, the county may take additional steps.
She says those steps could include writing tickets to businesses, or trying to shut them down if there are repeated violations.
The department is also planning to release information next week on hotspots in the county, with data on businesses and schools, that people can use.
