According to Lars Ulrich, Metallica is working with composer James Newton Howard on an orchestral version of “Nothing Else Matters” for the upcoming Jungle Cruise movie from Disney.
Ulrich said that he believes Disney production president Sean Bailey, has always been a Metallica fan, and over the years they have gotten to know each other well. He added his family are Disney fans and that he always looked for a way to get Metallica involved in one of their projects.
As for composer James Newton Howard, Ulrich said that even though Metallica wrote “Nothing Else Matters”, Howard has created his own version of the song to make it fit into something specific in the film, but Ulrich won’t give any more details than that.
According to Disney, the Jungle Cruise movie is inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, “Jungle Cruise”. The film is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain and Emily Blunt as a determined explorer on a research mission. It also features Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti. Disney’s Jungle Cruise is schedule to be released on July 30th, 2021.
