The pandemic is having a big impact on room tax collections in Oshkosh.
City Manager Mark Rohloff says instead of their slogan “Wisconsin’s Event City,” they’ve been “non event city” this year. He wouldn’t be surprised if they only take in 30 percent to 40 percent of their total for a typical year.
The city uses room tax collections to support the convention center, The Grand, and the convention and visitors bureau.
Rohloff says they were at a record-breaking pace for room tax revenue through February, and that came to a halt.
He was a guest on AM Fox Valley.
